Wow. What an amazing story portraying today’s rural life in a nutshell. I was glued to the book from the start. Superbly written and a real page turner!
An incredibly accurate portrait of modern rural life, Rural Revenge is a gripping tale from start to finish and an extraordinary effort for a first novel. Mark has captured the very essence of the challenges and widespread frustrations of living and working in 21st century rural Britian. I kept screaming back at the pages “but this is what it is actually like”. A must read for those who champion rural crime, but perhaps even more so for those of influence who do not; politicians and city dwellers take note.
Totally gripping, a thoroughly enjoyable read!
A brilliant engrossing read full of detail about rural life. Knowing the murderer from the start and gradually revealing his life was a master stroke and had me rooting for him.
A very engaging read, hard to put down, and particularly topical. Enjoyed it a lot.
This is a cracker of a story. The author obviously knows the farming world ‘inside out’ and the issues that concern rural communities. There is no doubt in my mind that the whole book has been comprehensively researched. I thought I knew how the story would end but I was ‘way off the target’. It is been written as though the author has been writing for years with many books to his name. But that is not the case.
The author has told me ‘…that everyone has a book in them and then they should probably stop…’ I hope that is not the case here as I would love a sequel to this.
What a first novel! Thank goodness for Lockdown, enabling Mark to produce this compelling book. A real page turner, hitting a nerve politically and highlighting the all too real issue of rural crime. Excellent characterisation and full of suspense. Not my usual genre but I could not put it down!
A fast-paced and deeply satisfying tale of countryside retribution
